Overview

Xuntanza, nestled in the heart of Vilagarcía de Arousa on Rúa Juan García, stands as a vibrant celebration of Galician cuisine. This restaurant captures the essence of the region through a carefully curated menu that honors tradition while inviting exploration.

The spotlight here is undeniably on authentic seafood and classic Galician flavors. Signature dishes such as Pulpo A Feira and Volandeiras showcase the freshness of the Atlantic, prepared with a subtle hand that balances seasoning and texture. Equally enticing are offerings like Chipirones Fritos and Chipirón A la Plancha, which highlight tender baby squid cooked to perfection. For those seeking robust, hearty fare, the Zorza Con Patatas and Cachopo Asturiano offer rich, comforting bites deeply rooted in Iberian culinary heritage.

Beyond seafood, Xuntanza’s diverse selection includes flavorsome staples such as Tortilla Española and delightful house-made croquettes filled with fresh maritime ingredients. Dessert lovers will not want to miss the Tarta de la Abuela and the iconic Tarta de Santiago, each delivering a sweet finish steeped in tradition.

The dining space, while modest, exudes warmth and simplicity. Some guests have noted that the seating can occasionally be less than ideal, especially during busy dinner hours, yet the atmosphere remains inviting. The option to dine alfresco provides a bonus—a serene ocean view that complements the meal and amplifies the sense of place.

Service is consistently praised for its warmth and attentiveness. Staff members bring a genuine hospitality that balances efficiency with a personal touch, enhancing the relaxed, authentic experience. Whether you're dropping by as a solo traveler, a couple, or a group, Xuntanza caters well to those eager to indulge in quality Galician fare without fuss.

In sum, Xuntanza is a must-visit for anyone drawn to the rich culinary landscape of Galicia. It offers a compelling mix of traditional dishes executed with care, a welcoming environment, and a connection to the local sea and culture that lingers long after the last bite.

This is a tapas bar. The food is good. I liked the best the melted cheese dishes - similar to provalone. The girl that served us was very nice and atentive.

I had the octopus and shrimp dish cooked in wine. Wonderful! Lovely view of the ocean. We sat outside.

We were able to get a table for four without reservation at dinner time. The table was not very well placed (near toilet and in a very hot area) but taking in consideration the time and how busy it was, this was not an issue. Very kind service from the personnel and, above all, very tasty food with good portions and great quality/price ratio. Overall great experience, just a remark that is better to do a reservation.

Even as you walk down the street, you can smell the pleasant scent. You will regret not trying if you don't try.
